Events take place which can stress family systems.  Family roles, interaction, communication, trust and overall functioning are in jeopardy.   These stress events include divorce, illness, re-marriage, blending families, grief and loss, diagnosis with ADD or ADHD, or something as simple as moving to a new state.

Families often don’t seek or receive the help they need to keep the stress from becoming a fracture. Many times, it is the children who suffer the damage.

The focus of the Project PATCH Family Growth Center is to help families at the point of stress rather than after a fracture has occurred.  The program will focus on education rather than individual therapy.  Families, grouped with those in similar stress events, learn about the pitfalls they may face, develop the skills required to weather the events and share in a positive and fun experience.  Rather than targeting families in crisis, the goal is to be proactive in helping before the family requires a higher level of care.

The program will provide families with Christian-based, family-focused, short-term educational and experiential counseling which raises awareness, develops skills and is fun.  Some sessions will be conducted with the whole family while others will focus on parents and children separately.  This will allow targeted instruction and discussion leading to insight and commonality.
