Your Son is Running Out of Options

Does this sound like your son?

  • Poor grades even though he is intelligent
  • Disengaged and apathetic about school
  • Anger at home – but seems to handle it okay in other settings
  • Low work ethic
  • Abuse of technology – (Video game addiction, porn use, screen addiction)
  • Psychiatric Struggles – Depression, ADD, ADHD, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD)
  • Poor social skills
  • Low self-image
  • Entitled attitude – feels he deserves or is “owed” stuff but not willing to put in the effort

Have you tried these things to help?

  • Switching schools
  • Counselors
  • Taking away technology
  • Lectures, pleading
  • Tutors
  • Mentors
  • Vacations

There are few things more frustrating than trying to help someone who doesn’t want help. He doesn’t see any reason to change his behavior because it isn’t causing enough pain and frustration now.

But if he doesn’t get help. . . then he’s going to experience a very challenging life.  He is unlikely to complete high-school let alone be able to obtain and hold a job.  It is unlikely that he will have the opportunities that you want for him.  He will struggle.

He needs more help than you can offer. . . but it isn’t too late.

Our Therapeutic Residential Treatment Program for Boys will partner with you to get your son back on course.

  • Develop communication skills
  • Use technology safely while reducing personal vulnerability and compulsive behavior
  • Build motivation, Goal setting, and momentum
  • Strengthen his grit – the ability to move forward when things are difficult
  • Encourage accountability and relationships
  • Self-care
  • Ability to set and hold to boundaries
  • Set personal values and strengthen his understanding of right and wrong
  • Ability to make positive attachments with parents, peers, mentors, and teachers.

Boys learn best through experience and having a chance to talk on their terms. We teach and practice Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills which the boys see as practical. We use activities and recreation to increase conversation and learning. Finally, we surround the boys with mentors who guide them in making better decisions and living wise lives.

Our Boys’ program is a licensed and accredited Therapeutic Residential Treatment Program that houses up to 20 boys at a time, ages 12 to 17.  The program staff is comprised of 40 dedicated staff members, including a core of professional counselors.  Over 1,000 teens have completed the Project Patch program and are living testaments to the program’s effectiveness.

Nestled in a secluded valley, surrounded by mountains, and bordered by a scenic river in southern Idaho, this 169-acre facility is the perfect environment for healing.  The core building, housing the kitchen and dining room, is flanked by the residence halls.  Bedrooms accommodate up to four boys and each room has its own bathroom.  Completing the campus are a school, gymnasium, woodshop, and chapel.

Project Patch accepts boys regardless of creed, religion, or race.  Patch is a faith-based ministry that focuses on teaching teenagers their worth and value in the eyes of their Creator.  While we are unable to accommodate individual religious practices other than those provided, all are respected.
